Internships

The Lakeside Industries internship program provides college students and recent graduates the opportunity to apply what they have learned in class to real-world applications in the construction industry. Whether it be in field operations or office roles, our interns are paid for their experience and are often eligible to receive school credit.

Our internship program is open to college students entering their junior or senior years as well as recent graduates.

We offer program content in the areas of project management, risk & safety, environmental engineering, human resources, and information technology.

Our ideal candidate has a positive can-do attitude and is eager to learn and work in the fast-paced construction industry.

Interns gain valuable knowledge from the program while contributing to the needs—and success—of the company. Participants of the program are strongly considered for future employment.

If you are interested in our internship program, we encourage you to reach out to learn more. We look forward to hearing from you!

Why Join Lakeside

We Care About Our People & The Communities We Live In

Ask anyone who works at Lakeside to describe our culture and you’ll more than likely hear the word “Family”. Lakeside is more than a workplace, it’s a place where we care about each other. Whether you’re from a family that has worked here for generations, coming fresh from a trade school, or anywhere in between, you will be welcomed into the Lakeside Family.

We not only care deeply about our immediate Lakeside Family, but we also care about the communities we live and work in. We take pride in building and connecting the roads, bridges, and airports in the communities where we live. Recruiting and employing people in these communities creates better engagement – empowering our employees to take pride in making a difference in their own neighborhoods. Additionally, Lakeside is proud to support various local community organizations, through both donations and volunteering.

Lakeside believes in giving back to the communities where we live, operate, and work.

Through our positive and fun work environment, we work hard as a team to accomplish our goals and go out of our way to take care of each other. This is our secret sauce and one of the many reasons people stay at Lakeside as long as they do. We take great pride in our employee retention and longevity.

We provide opportunities for growth

Employees at Lakeside have the opportunity to create and build long-lasting, successful, and meaningful careers. Many of our employees in key leadership roles started their careers in the field with a shovel and rake in hand.

Our people truly are our best asset. We have the hardest-working, smartest, and most talented people in the industry. To help our employees reach their career goals, we provide training, and mentoring to set up plans for success. This allows us to promote from within, staying true to the values we have worked so hard over the years to uphold.

Internship FAQ

An internship is an opportunity to gain real-world, hands-on work experience that is related to your field of study and career interest. This experience can help you in your post-grad job search by offering you valuable experience. Oftentimes, you may be eligible to receive academic credit for your internship – depending on your school’s program.

We offer internships in our Operations and Support Departments. In Operations, you can gain construction industry experience working with our Project Managers and Superintendents. You can get exposure to bidding and contracts, subcontractor management and client relations, safety, environmental and quality control compliance, etc. In the support departments, we offer internships within our Safety, Environmental, Human Resources, IT, Accounting/Finance, and Quality Control departments. You will gain valuable experience working in these careers and exposure to the construction industry. Typically, these internships take place during your summer breaks from school, which is also during our busiest time of year – the paving season.

Our Internship program is open to incoming college Juniors, Seniors, or recent graduates of any secondary education program (4-year Universities, Community Colleges, Graduate Schools, etc.). It is helpful if your field of study or future career goals are related to the area you are interning in, as it provides insight into what that career looks like.

Yes! All our internships are paid. Depending on the role and prior experience, pay rates vary. Additionally, many interns are considered for future employment opportunities – whether it be to become a returning intern the next season, or future employment after completion of your school program.

An internship provides you with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the real world prior to graduation. This allows you to earn money while you learn, refine, and develop new skills, explore career interests, gain industry knowledge and contacts, and apply the knowledge you have gained in the classroom to relevant job scenarios!

This varies on your college or university’s specific academic departments. You may be eligible to earn academic credit for participating in a summer internship. Only your school’s academic department can offer credit, and policies vary greatly among schools or departments. To learn more about your school’s internship credit options, please consult your academic advisor. If you have requirements from your university that you need in place to obtain credit, we’re happy to work with you.
