Despite its size as one of the largest industries in our country, the construction industry is currently facing a shortage of skilled men and women throughout all professions. The Lakeside Field Trip program was designed to help inform & inspire elementary and high school students about the opportunities available to them in our industry.

In addition to the many field trips we host around Washington each year, we also support the AGC Education Foundation and the laborers, operating engineers, and teamster unions in their events hosted throughout the year. Events include the Construction Career Days in Seattle and Puyallup, Dozer Days, and more.

Lakeside Field Trip Program

The subjects discussed in our program are examples of the practical application of the courses they study in school: how mathematics apply to the real world, how safe practices lead to healthier, happier lives, the importance of protecting our environment, and community building and participation.

Our field trip program includes:

  • Our safety practices and how they apply to our workers and the general public
  • The policies & efforts we make to be good stewards of the environment
  • The testing procedures we utilize to ensure the best quality products are used in the asphalt manufacturing process
  • Introduction to the equipment we use in heavy highway construction
  • An asphalt manufacturing plant tour
